Blamire House, Pocklington

Blamire House offers you and your horse a beautifully tranquil stay in the heart of the gentle arable countryside of East Yorkshire, with quiet lanes and bridleways (with no gates!) to hack out on straight from the door.

The house dates back to the 18th century and is surrounded by lovely gardens and well-fenced paddocks, where you can watch your horse grazing from the room where you stay. Just to the north you can see the glorious Yorkshire Wolds, where there is more wonderful riding, with many excellent routes starting just a short drive away.

The owner is Janet Cochrane, who runs Ride Yorkshire, and she'll provide you with maps and route directions to help you discover the local rides. For longer stays she'll be happy to advise on places to explore further afield.

Blamire is just 3 miles from Rosethorpe Park, where you can hire the Cross-country course for a very reasonable fee - there are jumps to suit all abilities.

Stays here are very flexible as well as relaxing - there's a choice of twin or double rooms, both ensuite. For lunch and evening meals, you can either go to one of the local pubs a short drive away or to a restaurant in the nearby market towns of Pocklington and Market Weighton, or get a takeaway to enjoy in the big farmhouse kitchen!
