Ride Yorkshire's Janet Cochrane took advantage of the 'silver lining' offered by the Covid-19 lockdown to ride into the centre of York.
Janet's horses Siena and Scout live just a mile or so from the centre of York, so while the streets of the historic city centre were quiet she rode first Siena and then Scout into town to explore. It was amazing to see the Minster Piazza, The Shambles and other streets from the back of a horse! The few people we met looked equally surprised, as a horse and rider were probably the last thing they expected to see. It must be decades since the streets last heard the clip-clop of horses' hooves - yet for hundreds of years that would have been the main form of transport in this ancient city.
