Before your first ride with us you need to complete and submit this form. It covers you for all our rides.

NB. it is your responsibility to inform us of any changes (especially your Emergency Contact and Insurance details).

We take a personal interest in all our riders and their horses as your safety and their welfare is of great concern to us. If you're on a young / green horse or one that's new to you, please let us know in advance of the ride.

How long have you been riding? How often do you ride, and how long do you normally ride for?

Do you have any injuries or medical conditions which may affect your participation in our rides? It is essential for the safety of all members of the group for us to know of anything relevant. Any information will be kept confidential between the Ride Organiser and Leader. If 'yes', please give brief details:

You must have Public & Personal Liability Insurance as an individual to ride with us. Please state the company your policy is with and the date of expiry.

Read the following conditions carefully and check the boxes, then tick the Declaration and add the date. Please ask if you have any questions.

Condition 1:

Wearing hi-viz is mandatory on our rides. You must also wear appropriate footwear and a riding helmet of the standard approved by the BHS for Equestrian Access Groups - see https://www.bhs.org.uk/media/mwcjkbbi/2026-bhs-eag-hat-guide.pdf

Condition 2:

We ride at approx. 4-4½ mph (Grade 1 rides are slower). If you're used to hunting or Endurance, this will seem slow. If you're used to short local rides, it may seem quite fast. We expect you to be able to keep up with the group, and not rush on ahead.

Condition 3:

We ask you to be courteous towards other members of the group and their horses, including keeping your distance from the horse in front especially at the canter, and putting a red or green ribbon on your horse’s tail if it might kick or is young. This is to protect you as other people (for instance if you know your horse might kick and it injures another horse or person you could be liable for costs).

Condition 4:

In general you should stay behind the ride leader, who knows the terrain, the route and its potential hazards. However, we know that some horses prefer to be in front and we try to accommodate this as far as possible.

Condition 5:

We always indicate how long our rides are and try to outline known challenges or hazards. Please ensure that you and your horse are fit enough to take part – just ask if in doubt.

Condition 6:

Our rides sometimes include a stop at a café or pub. Please ensure that your horse is well behaved enough to stand still when there are people milling about, including children.

Hazards:

Whilst we know our routes well, we ask you to acknowledge that riding is a high-risk and unpredictable activity. Our guided rides mainly follow public rights-of-way and roads, with occasional use of private tracks with permission. There may be sections used by goods vehicles and farm machinery. Typical hazards may include cattle or other livestock in fields we pass through and pheasants suddenly flying out of hedgerows. Some rides include river crossings or steep slopes. We always try to make any particular hazards clear before you book.

Declaration:

I confirm that my horse and I are fit and competent to take part in these events. I understand that landowners, farmers, the Ride Yorkshire Foundation and their associates have no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to my person, horse or property.
