There are three very different but equally charming options to stay with your horse in the quiet rural village of Wressle, on the banks of the River Derwent and near the pretty market town of Howden.

Vicarage Cottage offers comfortable, modern accommodation for 2 or 3 adults (double room and single room), while The Granary is a smaller, beautifully refurbished space for two people.

Then there's 'The Shed with a Bed'! Suitable for one person, it's a 'glamping plus' experience: a well-insulated cabin with a loo, sink, shower, cooking facilities - and wifi.

There's a hot-tub available for all the accommodation which is perfect for relaxing after a good day's riding.

With good stabling on a yard next to the cottage, a horse-walker, and wash-off facility as well as an outdoor arena and turn-out paddocks, this is a perfect base for a riding holiday in Yorkshire. As a bonus, owner Katie Bloom is a qualified equine physiotherapist.

There are pleasant hacks right from the door, using the network of quiet lanes and the Bubwith-Market Weighton rail trail - the local castle is a popular viewpoint, for instance. There's more excellent hacking in the Yorkshire Wolds within a half-hour drive, while the beautiful areas of the North York Moors National Park and Howardian Hills National Landscape are around an hour away.

Even closer to hand - less than 30 minutes' drive - are the wonderful off-road riding trails of Escrick Park, with its cross-country jumps to suit all levels of ability. The yard is also perfectly placed for a day out with one of the Yorkshire hunts, including the Middleton, Holderness, Sinnington, Bilsdale, and the Badsworth, Bramham, York South.

Wressle is easily accessible from the motorway network, at just 10 minutes' drive from the M62 (junction 36), making it ideal for stopovers on longer journeys north or south.
